Environment

During 2009 a biological diversity study was completed close to the mine in Brandy Creek and Middle Arm Bay, with no adverse findings. The company continued with its approved offset strategies to enhance surrounding vegetation and protect existing flora and fauna habitat from further degradation. The newly completed lined tailings dam will improve the environmental performance of the Tasmania Mine, preventing any seepage from the existing dam impacting on surrounding water quality.  

Current environmental projects include:

•    Re-vegetating areas adjacent to new tailings dam on completion of the development
•    Expanding the weed management program     
•    Erecting physical barriers to prevent the deterioration of threatened species communities
